Each bag is hand-embroidered by refugee and low-income women artisans with a traditional Palestinian tatreez design, the Tents of the Elite Society (""Khaem El Basha""in Arabic). ""El Basha"" was the name associated with the elite society during the Ottoman empire.

Our mission is twofold: 1) to create economic opportunities for refugee and low-income women artisans, and 2) to celebrate tatreez embroidery and Palestinian cultural heritage.

Dr. Janette Habashi, Professor in Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma, started Child's Cup Full (Darzah's parent organization) with her students as a small fundraising initiative to support grassroots education programs for refugee children in the West Bank.
