5 Things we learned this past year

 

This week SAM & LANCE Turns ONE!

We couldn't be more excited for our first birthday and we want to thank you all for your continued love and support.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This first year has been a wild ride for us, we had to learn how to work together (as any other siblings might know - this does take a learning curve!) but also make sure our meetings are productive and not just catching up on life and telling each other stories (which happens almost every meeting, Veronica’s really good at getting sidetracked).

We also have the unique challenge of being 12 hours apart with Veronica living in Singapore and Alora based out of Toronto, with the occasional trips where we get to see each other in real life.

But in all seriousness this year has been so amazing and we feel so blessed to be on this wild ride together. Here are the top 5 things that we have learned this year:

 

#1 We realize it's A LOT of work

We knew it would be but we didn't know that due to minor mistakes most tasks have to be done twice… wrong first then finally the right way. Not complaining! We definitely learn a lot this way but as two people who are perfectionists it can be a bit stressful at times!

 

#2  Our community is amazing

From advice, to shoutouts, to collaborations to just cheering each other online and in real life, our community is amazing and inspiring.
 

#3 If you have an idea just talk it out

With ANYONE! We have gotten some of the best advice from the most unsuspecting places and people. Don't be afraid to ask for advice or to just talk to  people about your ideas and inspirations.

 

#4 We learned to stick to our values

People may try to convince you to either change your business model or do things that go against your core values for the sake of making more money but we believe the most important thing is sticking to your beliefs, ethics and values and growing your business on that.
 

#5 We're constantly inspired

Supporting women owned businesses is way more inspiring and fun than we ever could have imagined. Every time we reach out to a new business or meet a new potential supplier we get inspired all over again! There are so many amazing and talented women out there with such creative and beautiful products it makes all the long hours and effort worth it

 

Of course there is technically much more that we have learned in the past year but if we were to write it all out we would be here forever! So instead we'll share some photos from our other birthdays! :)
